the project site is currently occupied by an existing building that functioned as a cinema and an improvised cafeteria for many years. due to deterioration and structural damage, the new proposal aims to replace the old building.

the private club is located in vargas, bordered by the caribbean sea and the el ávila mountain, an area highly prone to landslides.

our proposal envisions a new building composed of a series of terraces, reminiscent of the hanging gardens of babylon, designed to protect the cafeteria and the new grocery store from potential floods while maximizing views of the beach and the pool.

to better integrate the pool area, we employed a striped pattern that continues uninterrupted through the pool, enhancing the boundaries of the space while incorporating nature with a strict grid to accommodate a variety of palm trees.

the two enclosed spaces, including the grocery store and the kitchen for the cafeteria, feature a double-skin design with an inner garden to cool the structure. this same concern extends to the open space of the cafeteria and bar, which is topped with a tall, cloud-shaped roof that covers the terraces and facilitates heat removal through its openings.
